Automating the export
This article will go through the steps neccessary to automatically export the files, this could for instance go to and FTP site.
To automatically create the export data, a Windows scheduled task can be created to be run as required (the suggestion is daily).
The parameter to use will be /a
Example: C:/Systime/OSEE.exe /a
The recommended PC to create the task on is the Orion server. The PC that has the Orion program files on it.
For our Hosted Citrix clients, please contact our support (ITops) to create the task for you.
This can be done by either calling us on +64 9 587 2455, clicking the link in the Help menu in Orion, or submitting a ticket through our on-line portal
To create a Windows Scheduled Task (for Non Hosted clients),
Go to the search bar and type “Task Scheduler”. Open the app
On the right-hand Action pane, select “Create Task”
General
Give the Task a Name and use the same options as the screen shot below
Triggers
Create a New Trigger. These are the reoccurring times the extract data is required. The recommendation is to run at night on a daily schedule. Use the same option as the screen shot below.
Actions
Select New. Use the settings in the screen shot below, with the exception of the “Program/Script and start in paths. These will be different in your environment. Select the browse button to navigate to the OSEE.exe which is found within the ORION folder.
Copy this path (minus the OSEE.exe) into the Start in field for example: G:\Systime\ORION\CurrentOrion\
The Argument of “/a” must be entered.
Conditions
Load these settings
Settings
Load these settings and select OK to save the task
You maybe prompted to enter your Windows login/ password to save the task. This will depend on your user security settings loaded by whoever built the PC/server
The task will now sit in the library of tasks. Right click on this task and select Run to test it. No screens will pop up as this task runs silently in the background.
Navigate to the Orion Export folder ..ORION\EXPORT\OSEE to view the exported files. If there are no files and you can manually run the OSEE from within Orion and files are created, then follow the task steps above again.
